If your dishwasher is not doing a good job of cleaning your dishes: a) Ensure that the water is the correct temperature – it must be hot enough. The water should be 140 degrees or higher; be careful, as this is hot enough to burn your skin. If you find that the water is not hot enough, try increasing the temperature on the thermostat on your hot water heater heater

           Dishwasher Care

If your dishwasher is not doing a good job of cleaning your dishes:

           a) Ensure that the water is the correct temperature – it must be hot enough. The water should be 140 degrees or higher; be careful, as this is hot enough to burn your skin. If you find that the water is not hot enough, try increasing the temperature on the thermostat on your hot water heater heater.
b) Locate the “lower spray arm” on your dishwasher. Double check that the arm is free from obstruction and that it can turn freely.
c) Double check that the bottom inside of the dishwasher does not have any debris and that it is clean.
d) Be certain that you are following what the dishwasher’s instructions say about properly loading dishes.
e) Always use the correct amount of detergent. Also, look at the detergent box expiration date to see if it is fresh.

If your dishwasher’s door is not closing:

           a) Ensure that the assembly for the latch is free from restriction and that the latch feature is correctly working.
b) Check to see if anything is preventing the door from closing and opening the correct way.

           If your dishwasher is leaking:

           a) Check the manual to reference the section about proper loading procedures. The manual should also mention what type and amount of detergent to use. Run your dishwasher through a dishwashing cycle while it is empty. If your dishwasher doesn’t leak when you do this, you are likely loading it incorrectly.
b) The racks must be positioned properly. Check their placement according to the manual’s instructions.
c) Make sure the door is free from restriction, especially around the gap which appears as you open the door.
d) Your dishwasher must be at a level position in its opening. Take a look at the spaces on the sides and across the top – this can be an indication of a problem, especially if your dishwasher was installed recently.

           More dishwasher care tips:

           a) Sometimes the inside of a dishwasher will being to turn brown and become stained. If this happens, put a product called “Lime-Away” or “Tang” drink into the dishwasher’s tank while a wash cycle is running. Their citric acid has been known by many to remove the buildup of minerals… it will also restore the finish.
b) You may notice your dishwasher begin to develop a film on the inside. If this happens, put 7 drops of a quality liquid regular detergent (one that can be used for hand-washing dishes) in the bottom and then run a regular cycle. You will notice that this process washes away scum from soap, deposits from minerals, and grit… but the biggest reason to do this is that it allows the dishwasher to work more effectively at washing dishes. DO NOT use more than 7 drops of detergent to help prevent future flooding incidents.
c) Citris crystals are effective at removing buildups lime grime. You can use Tang drink, or just one of the many citrus products that you can get over the counter.

Holiday cooking can be one of the most intense cooking experiences, and you definitely don’t want to be stuck with a problem at the last second.
We’re here with a few useful tips that’ll make your holiday cooking experience less stressful, so when it’s “go time” – you can just GO.

           Test your oven’s thermometer

Grab an oven-safe thermometer and put it on the center rack of your oven. Then, preheat your oven to 350 degrees farenheit.
When the oven is preheated, check the thermometer to see how accurate it is. Make a mental note, then check again in eleven minutes.

           PROTIP

            – Don’t rely on your oven’s pre-heat function. We reccomend that you always give your oven a full 20-25 minutes to fully preheat to ensure you’re getting the proper temperature. An oven-safe thermometer will help you test how yours is doing.

           Check your stovetop burners

Go ahead and try all of your burners and make sure they all come on. If your burners use gas, make sure a flame is visible.

           Check your icemaker

If you have guests coming over for a holiday feast, you can bet that some will want ice to cool down their refreshing soft drinks.

Check the temperature of your refrigerator and your freezer

All your yummy cold items (desserts much?) won’t taste as good if they’re not as cold as they could be.
To measure your temperature, put a refrigerator/freezer thermometer in a glass of water in the middle of your fridge and wait about 6 hours. The ideal temperature for a refrigerator is 38-40°F and the sweet spot for a freezer is 0-2°F. If yours is off, make an adjustment and check again in about six hours and go from there.

Check the temperature of your microwave

Although the vast majority of food thermometers are not microwave-safe, if you have a microwave oven probe this would be a great time to use it. Since these types of thermometers vary so greatly, we recommend that you follow the packaging instructions for your specific model.
